Venetian-Gothic architecture spilling down a perfect Adriatic promontory — Piran is arguably the most beautiful small town on the entire northern Adriatic. A private expert-led walk through its labyrinthine medieval streets is the finest way to experience it.
What to expect
The 30-minute coastal drive south from Koper already charms, arriving at the tip of Piran's slim peninsula. Your guide leads you through impossibly narrow alleys — impossibly narrow, yet lined with ochre-washed Renaissance facades — to the clifftop Church of St George for panoramic Adriatic views. Tartini Square, one of the most elegant piazzas in Central Europe, is the centrepiece, before a tasting of local Malvazija wine and Piranese prosciutto at a family-run konoba.
Good to know
Piran is 30km from Koper port (approx. 30–35 min). Combine with Portorož's salt pans for a full coastal half-day. All-aboard allows a comfortable morning departure. Parking in Piran is restricted — a guided transfer is strongly advisable.
