Sunrise Hot-Air Balloon over the Nile Valley & Edfu Temples

Float silently above the emerald ribbon of the Nile at sunrise, the Temple of Horus glowing gold beneath you and the Eastern Desert stretching to the horizon. One of Egypt's most iconic experiences, and utterly unforgettable from this rarely-ballooned stretch of the Upper Nile.

What to expect

A pre-dawn transfer takes you to the launch site on the west bank, where the balloon is dramatically inflated as the sky turns pink. Flights last approximately 45–60 minutes at altitudes from tree-top to several hundred metres, with a skilled pilot narrating the landscape. Touchdown is followed by a traditional Egyptian breakfast and a certificate of flight — a genuine celebratory moment.

Good to know

Flights are weather-dependent and operate October–May most reliably. Pre-booking is essential — balloon companies fill weeks in advance. Transfers from the cruise dock to the launch site are included. Wear layers; mornings above the Nile are cooler than expected. Confirm flight timing against your ship's all-aboard time before booking.
