Raumabanen Scenic Train: Rauma Railway Valley Journey

Ride one of Europe's most spectacular railway lines — the Rauma Railway — through the Romsdalen valley as it spirals through tunnels, over Kylling Bridge, and past Vermafossen waterfall. A cinematic journey that simply cannot be replicated by road.

What to expect

Board at Åndalsnes station (200 metres from the dock) and settle into a window seat as the train climbs the dramatic Romsdalen gorge. The engineering highlights — Kylling Bridge arching over the Rauma River, the helical Stavem Tunnel — unfold one after another. Many passengers ride to Bjorli or Dombås for the mountain scenery, then return in time for all-aboard. The journey is narrated by onboard guides on tourist season departures.

Good to know

The station is a 3-minute walk from the cruise dock — supremely convenient. Check the timetable at vy.no for departures; the return journey must clear your all-aboard time. A one-way trip to Bjorli is approximately 1 hr 15 min. Book tickets in advance online to secure seats on busy summer days.
