One of the Douro's most celebrated family estates — vines dating to 1716, award-winning architecture, and wines poured by the people who make them. A pilgrimage for any serious wine lover.
What to expect
Arriving at Vallado — a 10-minute drive from the Régua dock — you are welcomed into one of the valley's most photogenic estates, its modern adega carved into the hillside beside centuries-old vines. A guided cellar tour covers the estate's history from the 18th century to its current generation of winemakers. The premium tasting seats you at a long wooden table with six wines, including rare reserve and vintage Ports, explained by a passionate estate host. The terrace view over the Corgo tributary is genuinely breathtaking.
Good to know
Tastings can be booked directly on the Quinta do Vallado website; pre-booking is essential. The estate is a 5–10 min taxi/transfer from the Régua dock. Allow 2–2.5 hours for the premium experience, leaving ample time before all-aboard.
