Sweden's premier wildlife sanctuary for endangered Nordic and Arctic species — lynx, wolverine, snow leopard, and Arctic fox — offers a keeper-for-a-day experience that is utterly unlike any zoo visit you have ever made.
What to expect
Set in 62 hectares of Bohuslän coastal forest, Nordic Ark is designed around the animals' welfare, meaning enclosures are vast and sightings feel genuinely wild. The keeper experience includes preparing food, learning about individual animals' personalities and conservation backstories, and entering holding areas with a certified keeper. The wolverine and lynx encounters are particularly spine-tingling. The park's coastal café serves excellent locally sourced lunch.
Good to know
Nordic Ark is located at Åby Säteri, approximately 25 km south of Lysekil — a 30-minute taxi or pre-arranged private car. Allow 3–4 hours minimum. Keeper Experiences must be pre-booked directly on the Nordic Ark website well in advance; slots are strictly limited.
