Glide over 15 deliberately scuttled vessels in a transparent kayak as the morning light floods the underwater world — wobbegong sharks, turtles, and reef fish visible through the hull beneath you.
What to expect
You launch from the resort beach in a transparent sit-on-top kayak and paddle the short distance to the wreck site, peering through the hull at staghorn coral and schools of parrotfish below. Your guide points out resident wobbegong sharks draped across the hulls and, if conditions allow, dugongs grazing the seagrass nearby. You then don mask and fins for a guided snorkel, before returning to shore for a freshwater rinse and resort facilities. The light in the early morning hours is spectacular for underwater visibility.
Good to know
Book the combined Wrecks + Clear Kayak package directly through Tangalooma Resort; tours depart from the resort jetty — the same point where cruise tenders dock, minimising transfer time. Bring reef-safe sunscreen; standard sunscreen is prohibited in the marine park. Confirm departure time allows a comfortable return before all-aboard.
