Ascend through misty cloud forest to Morne Seychellois — Mahé's highest peak at 905 m — guided by a specialist who reads the forest like a book. Rare orchids, endemic pitcher plants, and panoramic Indian Ocean views reward the climb.
What to expect
The trail rises steeply from lush coastal vegetation into a cathedral of takamaka and cinnamon trees, the air cooling noticeably as you gain altitude. Your guide points out Seychelles blue pigeons, bulbuls, and the extraordinarily rare Seychelles paradise flycatcher. At the summit, the entirety of the Seychelles archipelago shimmers in every direction. The descent follows a different trail, revealing a completely new ecosystem.
Good to know
The trailhead is approximately 20–30 minutes by private taxi from Victoria Harbour. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring a light rain layer — cloud forest weather changes quickly. Allow at least 4–5 hours for the full summit experience.
