Ascend to the surface of the Folgefonna glacier — western Norway's mighty ice plateau — on a private expert-led glacier walk that puts you on 200-metre-deep ancient ice with panoramic views stretching to the sea.
What to expect
After a scenic drive up to the glacier access point, your certified guide fits your crampons and leads you across the blue-white ice surface of Folgefonna — a landscape of crevasses, moulins, and wind-sculpted snow ridges. The guide explains glaciology, climate data, and the glacier's ancient ice layers as you walk. On clear days, the view from the plateau encompasses Hardangerfjord all the way to the open sea — utterly unforgettable.
