Ride deep into the Falklands' wild coastline in a private 4×4 to reach Bertha's Beach — a pristine arc of white sand hosting the Falklands' most accessible, photogenic Gentoo penguin colony. A bucket-list wildlife encounter at the end of the world.
What to expect
Your guide collects you at the port in a dedicated 4×4 and navigates a mix of tarmac and rugged off-road tracks to reach Bertha's Beach, named for a historic shipwreck visible at low tide. On the wide, wind-sculpted strand you'll walk among hundreds of Gentoo penguins — curious, fearless, and utterly unhurried. Your guide provides naturalist commentary on behaviour, breeding cycles, and Falklands ecology. Snacks and water are included; the return journey follows the scenic coastline back to Stanley in time for all-aboard.
Good to know
Pre-book directly before your ship arrives — private slots sell out fast on busy port days. Allow 4–5 hours. Wear waterproof layers and sturdy footwear; the beach can be boggy. Snack and water provided; port pick-up and drop-off included.
