The Dominican Republic produces some of the world's most celebrated cigars and premium aged rum — this expert-led tasting experience visits a working cigar atelier and a distillery or spirits cellar, pairing both into one sophisticated, sensory afternoon.
What to expect
You're welcomed into an authentic cigar workshop where the air is sweet with cured tobacco. The master roller demonstrates the full process — selecting and sorting leaves, pressing the bunch, applying the wrapper with surgical precision — and guests may try rolling under guidance. From there, a short transfer brings you to a rum tasting salon where a guide walks you through the distillation story and leads a structured flight of aged expressions, discussing notes of vanilla, oak and tropical fruit. You leave with a curated selection to take aboard.
Good to know
Both venues are within or close to the Colonial Zone — easily combined with a walking tour in the same half-day. Book in advance as small-group sessions (typically 8–12 guests) fill quickly, especially on port days. Non-smokers are very welcome at the factory — it's as much a craft demonstration as a tasting.
