Walk the aisle where every English monarch since 1066 has been crowned, stand at the tomb of Elizabeth I, and step into the medieval Chapter House — one of the finest Gothic interiors in Europe.
What to expect
Enter through the Great North Door into a soaring Gothic nave flanked by the tombs of kings, scientists, and poets. The Coronation Chair — used at every coronation since 1308 — sits in St George's Chapel. Poets' Corner clusters the memorials of Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dickens, and Darwin. The 13th-century Chapter House retains its original tiled floor and breathtaking vaulted ceiling. The audio guide (included) is exceptionally well produced and self-paces the experience beautifully.
