Hike through one of Norway's most extraordinary geological wonders — a mountain with a natural tunnel bored clean through its centre. The 160-metre-long cave frames breathtaking coastal panoramas and is pure Helgeland magic.
What to expect
A well-marked 20-minute trail leads steeply up to the tunnel entrance at 258 m above sea level. Inside the cave, the acoustic silence and dramatic rock formations are unlike anything else in Norway. On clear days, the Svartisen glacier glints on the horizon. The descent offers different angles of the coastline with every step.
Good to know
Torghatten is a 20–30 min drive or a short boat transfer from Brønnøysund port. Wear sturdy shoes — the path is rocky. Pre-book a local guide via visithelgeland.com for insider geology and Sami folklore. With a ~2h 25min port call, leave the ship immediately and aim to be back 30 min before all-aboard.
