Board a private sailboat at Santa Marta's marina and glide along the Caribbean coast into Tayrona National Park — Colombia's most spectacular stretch of coastline, where jungle meets turquoise sea. Snorkel coral gardens and anchor at secluded beaches inaccessible by road.
What to expect
Cast off from the Santa Marta marina in the morning breeze, sails up as the Sierra Nevada peaks come into view behind you. The captain anchors in calm, crystalline coves inside Tayrona for two snorkeling sessions over thriving coral heads. A cold-lunch spread of fresh ceviche and tropical fruit is served on deck before a final beach stop on white sand framed by coconut palms. The sail back into port at golden hour is a moment to savour.
Good to know
The marina is a 10-minute taxi from the cruise terminal. Depart by 08:00 to maximise beach time; typical return is 16:00–17:00. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag for valuables, and a light cover-up. Pre-book the private charter at least two weeks ahead in high season (Dec–Mar).
