Sunset Catamaran Sail & Snorkel: Baía das Gatas & Marine Reserve

Set sail from Mindelo on a private catamaran charter to the sheltered natural pools of Baía das Gatas, snorkelling over volcanic reef rich with parrotfish and moray eels before returning under sail at golden hour with cold Strela beer and fresh catch in hand.

What to expect

Guests board at the marina steps from the cruise terminal. The catamaran motors gently out of Porto Grande before hoisting sail along São Vicente's rugged northern coastline. At Baía das Gatas, a natural rock breakwater creates a vast, calm lagoon perfect for snorkelling; your guide points out reef life and provides instruction for first-timers. On the homeward leg the sails catch the trade winds and a seafood platter — octopus, tuna carpaccio, local cheese — is laid out as the sun drops into the Atlantic.
