Blast across the Tay Estuary on a high-powered rigid inflatable, hunting for bottlenose dolphins and grey seals against a backdrop of iconic bridges and open Scottish sky. Pure adrenaline, pure nature.
What to expect
Kitted out in a full dry suit and life jacket, you board a powerful RIB that skims across the Tay at exhilarating speed. Your skipper — a local marine expert — narrates the estuary's ecology while scanning for the resident bottlenose dolphin pod, one of the UK's most northerly populations. Grey seals haul out on sandbanks close to shore, and the twin spans of the Tay Road and Rail Bridges provide a dramatic industrial backdrop. On calmer days the boat ventures further into the Firth of Tay toward open water.
Good to know
Trips run approximately 1.5–2 hours; depart from Dundee waterfront, walking distance from the cruise terminal. Minimum age/weight restrictions apply — check the operator website. Book directly in advance as small-group places sell out on port days. Wear warm layers even in summer; the Tay estuary has a sharp wind chill.
