Strap crampons onto your boots and ascend the sculpted blue walls of a living glacier on a guided ice-climbing and ice cave exploration — an electrifying encounter with Greenland's ancient ice that very few travellers ever experience.
What to expect
After a short transfer from Tasiilaq, your certified glacier guide fits you with crampons, harness, and ice axe and walks you through technique before you touch the ice. You'll front-point up luminous blue walls and duck into ice caves where millennia-old air bubbles are trapped in translucent turquoise ice. The guide shares the glaciology and climate science woven into every layer underfoot. The four-hour experience is physically engaging but accessible to fit adults — the reward is access to an inner world of ice that is literally disappearing.
