Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) Private Sunrise Trek

Hike to one of the world's most surreal natural wonders — a Himalayan-scale ridge stripped in bands of crimson, gold, jade, and violet by millennia of mineral deposits. A genuine high-altitude adventure that rewards with views that defy photography.

What to expect

A 3-hour pre-dawn drive from Cusco brings you to the Cusipata trailhead at 4,600 m as first light brushes the Andes. The 7 km round-trip hike rises through high-altitude grasslands past grazing alpacas before the ridge detonates into full colour. A private picnic lunch with panoramic views of Ausangate glacier completes the experience before the comfortable return drive to Cusco.

Good to know

Minimum two full days in Cusco before this trek is strongly advised for altitude acclimatisation — this is the highest excursion on this list at 5,200 m. Horseback options available (+approx. USD 20) for the steepest section. Requires an early departure; confirm your ship's all-aboard time carefully. Pack waterproofs and warm layers regardless of season.
