Paddle a private sea-kayaking expedition through the spectacular island-studded Hopedale Archipelago, scanning for humpback whales, bald eagles, and Atlantic puffins in a sublime sub-Arctic seascape.
What to expect
Launch from Hopedale harbour in a stable, high-quality sea kayak with a certified local guide who has paddled these waters for decades. Weave between spruce-tufted islands, reading the tides and wildlife signs as you go. Humpback and minke whales regularly surface within metres of the kayaks in summer; grey seals haul out on the outer rocks. Your guide shares the Inuit names for each island and their historical significance. A flask of hot tea and local bannock awaits at your island rest stop.
