What to expect
A local skipper navigates you out to Vanimo's outer reef in under 15 minutes, mooring above coral bommies draped in sea fans and swarming with parrotfish, angelfish, and the occasional reef shark. The water clarity here is exceptional — visibility commonly exceeds 20 metres. Between snorkel sessions, drift on deck with chilled coconut water and watch frigate birds wheel overhead. A second, shallower site is on offer for less confident swimmers.
Good to know
Pre-book through NTA and specify your group size and experience level. All snorkel equipment is provided; bring reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest, and an underwater camera or GoPro. Allow generous time for the return journey — seas can occasionally pick up in the afternoon.
