Ascend 366 worn medieval steps inside Bruges' iconic 13th-century Belfry for a panoramic sweep over the entire city's Flemish skyline — one of the most dramatic viewpoints in Northern Europe.
What to expect
The climb begins in the medieval treasury rooms where ancient guild chests and civic silver are displayed, before the stairs spiral up through the carillon chamber — you can peer at the enormous bronze bells at close range. At the summit, the full panorama of Bruges unfolds: a sea of orange rooftops, winding canals and the distant flat Flemish countryside stretching to the horizon. Allow 45–60 minutes for the full experience, ideally timed for late morning light.
Good to know
Pre-book timed-entry online — walk-up tickets are rarely available in summer. The climb is steep and narrow; not suitable for those with limited mobility. Bruges is 15–20 min from Zeebrugge port by taxi or private transfer.
