Journey into the vine-draped western hills of Samos to the legendary Samos Wine Cooperative — producer of one of Greece's most celebrated Muscat wines since 1934 — for a guided cellar tour and an expert vertical tasting with views over ancient vineyards.
What to expect
Your guide leads you through the fragrant western wine villages — Marathokampos, Karlovasi — before arriving at the Samos Union of Viticultural Cooperatives winery. A private cellar tour reveals enormous oak casks and stainless ageing tanks before settling into a structured tasting: dry Muscat, golden Anthemis, and the legendary Nectar, each paired with local honey, walnuts, and artisan cheese. The drive back along the coastal road offers some of the island's most panoramic sea views.
Good to know
The winery is open to visitors in season; calling ahead via the tour operator is strongly recommended to secure a private-group tasting slot. The tour pairs beautifully with the panoramic island tour for a full-day combination. Approximately 4 hours for the wine-focused version, up to 8 hours for the full western island circuit.
