Pass through the imposing gates of the college that has trained Royal Navy officers — including King Charles III and Prince William — since 1905. A rare, privileged glimpse into a living institution that is strictly off-limits except on select guided tours.
What to expect
A serving or retired naval officer leads your small group through the Lutyens-influenced Edwardian buildings that crown the hill above the Dart. The Great Hall dazzles with heraldic shields, battle honours, and a Painted Hall ceiling rivalling Greenwich. You'll see the Passing Out Parade ground where every future Royal Navy officer takes their commission, and hear firsthand stories of training life from someone who lived it. The panoramic view over the Dart from the college terrace is simply unsurpassed.
Good to know
Tours are seasonal and numbers are strictly limited — book as far ahead as possible via the BRNC website or by telephone. The college is a 15-min uphill walk or short taxi from the town quay. Security protocols require photo ID; no large bags. Allow approximately 2 hours.
