Board a real certified submarine — not a glass-bottom boat — and descend 30 metres into the Atlantic to drift past volcanic reefs, sea turtles, rays, and technicolour reef fish in climate-controlled comfort.
What to expect
You board a tender at Puerto de Naos Marina, which ferries you out to the waiting submarine. Once submerged, the 45-minute dive takes you across a volcanic reef landscape at 20–30 metres, where moray eels lurk in lava crevices, angel sharks rest on sand, and shoals of bream drift past your porthole. The on-board marine biologist commentary (in multiple languages) turns the experience into a masterclass in Atlantic ecosystems. Surface with a glass of cava — this is Lanzarote as seen by almost no one.
Good to know
The submarine operates from Playa Blanca marina, about 45 minutes south of Arrecife — arrange private transfers from port. Departures run several times daily; morning slots offer the clearest visibility. Suitable for all ages and non-swimmers. Book directly via the Sub Lanzarote website well in advance as capacity is strictly limited.
