Tonga's most spectacular underground world — limestone caverns, glittering stalactites, and a hidden freshwater pool for a mythic swim beneath the earth. A local guide brings the ancient Tongan stories alive in this extraordinary natural cathedral.
What to expect
Descend into Tonga's most celebrated limestone cave, where cathedral-like chambers drip with ancient stalactites and stalagmites. A knowledgeable local guide narrates the Tongan legends woven into every formation before you slip into the cool, clear freshwater underground pool for a surreal swim. Included in many east-coast scenic tours, it can also be arranged as a focused half-day excursion.
Good to know
Wear non-slip shoes and clothes you can swim in. Torches are provided. The cave is around 45 minutes' drive from the wharf — combine it with a blowholes visit on the east coast to make best use of time. Half-day allows easy return before all-aboard.
