Mojiko Retro Observation Gallery: 103m Panorama of the Kanmon Straits

Ascend 103 metres to the glass-walled observation gallery atop the Mojiko Retro district for a sweeping 360° panorama that takes in the Kanmon Bridge, the surging straits, the city of Shimonoseki directly opposite, and the dramatic sweep of northern Kyushu coastline.

What to expect

A swift lift carries you to the glass-enclosed observation gallery on the upper floors of the Mojiko Retro Tower, an architecturally striking structure designed to complement the historic district below. The views are genuinely breathtaking in all directions: the Kanmon Bridge to the south, the rooftops of the Meiji-era Retro district below, the mountains of Honshu across the water, and the open sea to the north. The gallery is open until 10 PM, so an evening visit — with the bridge illuminated — is extraordinary. Staff are helpful and multilingual signage is available.
