Paddle the Seine beneath the dramatic white chalk cliffs and view Château Gaillard from the river — the same perspective that besieging armies and medieval traders once had. A small-group guided kayak is the most cinematic way to experience Les Andelys.
What to expect
Guides outfit you with a single or double kayak at the Petit-Andely quay and lead the group downstream before turning back beneath the towering cliff face. The château's keep looms dramatically overhead as you paddle; guides point out the castle's water gate and the river's medieval role as a strategic highway. The 2-hour session is suitable for beginners and covers approximately 5 km at a leisurely pace. Light waterproof gear is provided.
Good to know
Sessions depart morning and early afternoon; pre-book to secure your slot. Wear clothes you don't mind splashing and bring a dry bag for valuables. The launch point is a 5-minute walk from the ship's tender pier. Best enjoyed May–September; availability weather-dependent.
