From the 94th floor you get a full 360-degree view of the city, the lake, and on clear days four states. It's a serious height (1,000+ feet) so the floor-to-ceiling windows feel dramatic, especially at night when the city lights up. Expect a modern, fairly crowded observation deck with interactive screens, a small café, and the TILT ride that slowly tips you forward over the edge if you pay extra. The whole visit usually takes 30-60 minutes depending on how long you linger. It's not life-changing but it's genuinely impressive on a clear day and far less tourist-clogged than the taller Willis Tower skydeck.
Best time is late afternoon through sunset from May to early October when the lake sparkles and the light is best; summer evenings can get hazy. Expect to pay around $25-40 for a standard timed ticket; add $10-20 if you want the TILT experience or a fast-track pass. Go on a weekday if possible. Skip the overpriced drinks on the deck and the add-on virtual-reality gimmick. Just buy the basic ticket, show up near golden hour, and spend your time actually looking at Chicago instead of the screens.
