Dubai Aquarium: Worth It?

It's a genuinely impressive tank holding 10 million litres with a wide walk-through tunnel, plenty of sharks, rays, and a decent underwater zoo section upstairs. Expect crowds, lots of kids, and the classic mall location – you walk straight in from the Dubai Mall. The tunnel is the highlight; you can stand and watch reef sharks glide overhead for as long as you want. The rest is nice but not life-changing – think educational displays, a few touch pools, and some surprisingly large crocodiles. Plan on 45–90 minutes total unless you’re a serious fish nerd.

Best time is weekday mornings right after opening, especially October to April when it’s not stinking hot outside. Summers are quieter but the mall gets more foot traffic from people escaping the heat. Expect to pay around $40–70 per adult depending on whether you just want general entry or add the glass-bottom boat ride or feeding experiences. Kids are cheaper.

Honest tips: Buy the basic ticket and spend your time in the tunnel and the top-level viewing area – that’s the good stuff. Skip the paid “behind the scenes” or diver feeding shows unless you have spare time and cash; they’re not that special. Combine it with other mall attractions or the Burj Khalifa if you’re doing a big Dubai day – it’s convenient but not a full-day destination on its own.
