The climb up the Arc de Triomphe is one of the better viewpoints in Paris. You get a perfect straight-shot look down the Champs-Élysées and a surprisingly clear view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Expect a 50-meter spiral staircase with narrow steps; it’s doable for most people but can feel tight if you’re claustrophobic or have knee issues. At the top there’s a small museum area explaining its history, plus an outdoor terrace where you’ll share space with plenty of other visitors taking photos. The whole visit usually takes 45–75 minutes depending on how long you linger at the top.
Best time to go is early morning (first slot after opening) or the hour before sunset. Spring and fall are ideal; summer can be hot and crowded, winter is cold and windy but often has shorter lines. Expect to pay around €13–18 for a standard adult ticket if you buy online. Skip the guided group tours unless you really want narration; the audio guide you can load on your phone is perfectly fine and gives you flexibility.
One honest tip: buy tickets online in advance during busy seasons so you can pick your entry time and skip the ticket line. If you already have a Paris Museum Pass, it gets you in free and is worth using here. Don’t bother with any “skip-the-line” offers that cost double; the regular timed ticket works just as well.
