ATV Tours from Las Vegas: Worth It?

Expect a mix of highway driving in a shuttle van followed by 2–3 hours on an ATV ripping through desert terrain. Most popular runs head to the Valley of Fire with its red sandstone, sand washes, and rocky trails. You’ll get a quick safety briefing, helmet, goggles, and a guide who sets the pace. Groups are usually 8–20 people; the ride feels equal parts thrill ride and scenic tour. It’s dusty, loud, and physically tiring if you’re not used to handling an ATV. Afternoon tours in summer can hit 110°F; winter mornings are crisp and far more comfortable.

Best time is October–April when daytime temps stay under 85°F. Expect to pay around $180–$280 per person for a half-day tour including transport from the Strip. Longer full-day or sunset options push toward $350. Single riders usually pay a supplement; passengers ride behind a driver for about 30–40% less.

Tip: Book the morning Valley of Fire tour if you want to actually enjoy the scenery instead of baking in the heat. Skip the cheapest “extreme” night tours that mostly deliver loud engines and little visibility. Wear closed shoes, long pants, and bring a bandana for dust—everything else is supplied.
