Casablanca's Atlantic beaches are nothing like the calm Mediterranean ones further north. Expect a working port city vibe mixed with wide sandy stretches, strong waves, and a lot of locals on weekends. Ain Diab is the most popular strip: you'll find cafés, jet skis, and families, but the water can be cold and the currents strong. It's not a postcard paradise; it's urban Morocco meeting the ocean. The experience is better as a half-day add-on rather than your main reason for visiting the city.
The best time is May to early October when it's warm and dry. July and August get very crowded with locals and the sun is intense. Shoulder months (April, late September) give you decent weather with fewer people. Expect to pay around $15-40 per person for a half-day beach visit including transport from central Casablanca, basic snacks, and maybe a horse or quad rental. Full-day tours from Marrakech push $80-120 but only make sense if you're combining it with the mosque.
Pick Ain Diab for people-watching and easy access; skip the more remote beaches unless you have your own transport as they're often littered and lack facilities. Honest tip: go early morning or late afternoon to avoid the worst crowds and heat. Another tip: the seafood grills along the corniche are the real reason to come — much better than the overpriced beach clubs.
