Should You Do the Intramuros Bike Tour?

The Intramuros bike tour is a solid, low-effort way to see the old Spanish walled city without melting in the Manila heat or getting lost. Expect a relaxed 2–3 hour ride on bamboo bikes that are surprisingly comfortable. You’ll pass through 8–10 main sites including the cathedral, Fort Santiago, Baluarte de San Diego, and several old churches and museums. Groups are usually small (5–10 people), which keeps it from feeling like a cattle drive. The guides are generally knowledgeable and keep the pace easy for anyone with basic cycling confidence. It’s not particularly strenuous, but you will be outdoors the whole time.

Best time is December to February when it’s drier and slightly cooler. Avoid the middle of rainy season (July–September) unless you enjoy riding in downpours. Expect to pay around $25–45 per person depending on group size, inclusions, and whether they add a small snack or cold drink at the end. Private tours sit at the higher end.

Tip: Choose the morning slot if you can — the light is better for photos and you avoid the worst afternoon heat. Skip the add-on horse-drawn kalesa carriage ride afterwards; it’s overpriced and you’ll have already seen everything worth seeing on the bikes. Bring a small backpack with water and sunscreen; the bikes usually have no storage.
