Expect a half-day trip (usually 3–4 hours) that includes sailing on a catamaran to one or two shallow reefs just off New Providence. The water is typically clear enough to see brain coral, sergeant majors, parrotfish, and the occasional turtle or ray. You’ll get basic snorkel gear, a brief safety talk, and time in the water (about 45–60 minutes total). The ride itself is relaxing with drinks—rum punch, beer, or soda—served after snorkeling. It’s touristy but still one of the better ways to see marine life without needing to book a full dive boat.
Best time is December through April when the weather is driest and seas are calmer. Avoid mid-summer if possible; afternoon thunderstorms and rougher water are common then. Expect to pay around $80–$130 per person depending on whether it’s a small-group or large-catamaran tour and what’s included (some add lunch, others just snacks and drinks).
Tip: Choose a smaller catamaran (under 30 passengers) if you want more space and better snorkel guidance—larger party boats can feel chaotic. Skip the ones that advertise “swim with pigs” as an add-on; you’ll waste time motoring to a different island and get less actual snorkeling. Bring your own reef-safe sunscreen and a waterproof phone case.
