Cliffs of Moher Day Trip from Dublin

A day trip to the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin is a long haul – expect 12 to 14 hours door-to-door with about 5–6 hours actually at the cliffs and nearby spots. The drive crosses the midlands then drops into the dramatic west coast. At the cliffs you’ll walk the paved paths along the edge, battle the wind, and stare at sheer 700-foot drops into the Atlantic. Most tours add a stop in the rocky Burren landscape and a couple of hours in Galway city for lunch and wandering. It’s a full, tiring day but delivers the classic Irish west-coast scenery in one shot.

Best time is May to early September when days are longest and weather is least miserable; June and September are slightly less crowded than July–August. Expect to pay around $90–$130 per person for a standard coach tour from Dublin including transport and driver-guide. Add €10–15 for cliff entry and parking, plus food and any extras.

Pick the version that includes the Burren if you like stark limestone scenery; skip the long Galway stop if you just want the cliffs and would rather not rush through a crowded city at 7 pm. Bring layers, a rain jacket, and good walking shoes – the wind and rain can hit hard even on “nice” days. If you have more time, overnighting in Doolin or Galway is far more relaxed than the same-day sprint.
