Aruba Dinner Cruise: Worth It?

A typical Aruba dinner cruise lasts about 3–3.5 hours and combines a sunset sail with a multi-course meal served either onboard or as a beach dinner after a short sail. Expect open-air seating on a catamaran or similar vessel, Caribbean music at a low volume, and decent food—usually grilled fish, chicken, pasta, salads, and dessert. The real draw is watching the sunset over the water while the boat gently cruises the calmer leeward side of the island. It’s touristy but relaxing; you’ll be with 30–80 other people depending on the boat size. Drinks are usually included or available for purchase. It’s not a wild party boat—more of a pleasant, low-key evening.

Best time is January through April when the weather is driest and seas are calmest. Sunset cruises run year-round, but from June to November you risk rain and rougher water that can cancel sailings. Expect to pay around $110–$160 per person; the higher end gets you better food, smaller groups, or table service instead of buffet. Book the later departure if you want the full sunset experience.

Tip: Choose the cruise that includes a short stop for swimming if you like being in the water—otherwise skip it and save money on the basic sunset dinner sail. Bring a light jacket; it gets surprisingly cool once the sun drops even in the tropics.
