Should You Do a Dive Trip to Aruba?

Aruba offers reliable Caribbean diving with warm 78–84 °F water, decent visibility (usually 60–100 ft), and a mix of wrecks, reefs, and easy shore dives. Most sites are calm and shallow enough for beginners, yet the Antilla wreck and some deeper reefs give experienced divers something to enjoy. Expect boat rides of 15–45 minutes, small groups, and a generally relaxed vibe. It’s a solid choice if you want diving without big swells or strong currents, but the underwater landscape is pleasant rather than spectacular compared to Bonaire or Curaçao.

The best time is January through April when seas are flattest and visibility is typically highest. July–November brings warmer water but a higher chance of rain and occasional rough days. Expect to pay around $110–$160 for a two-tank boat dive, $65–$95 for a single shore dive, and $450–$650 for a 3–4 day dive package including gear. Add $100–$150 per day for food, transport, and incidentals.

Pick morning boat trips when the water is usually calmer and marine life more active. Skip the big “dolphin encounter” or snorkel-with-turtles tourist traps; they add little to the actual diving experience. If you’re new to diving, the Discover Scuba program works fine here because conditions are forgiving. Bring your own computer and reef-safe sunscreen; rental gear is average.
