Offroad Bugging in Aruba: What to Know

Expect a bumpy, dusty ride through arid countryside, rocky tracks, and coastal trails. Most tours last 2–4 hours and include stops at the Natural Pool (Conchi), caves, and cliff-jumping spots if you’re up for it. It’s fun but not luxurious — you’ll get sand in your teeth, the sun is intense, and the terrain is rougher than many photos suggest. Groups are often mixed, so you may share the trail with other buggies. It’s a solid half-day adventure if you like being outdoors and don’t mind getting dirty.

The best time is January through April when it’s dry and breezy. Rainy season (October–December) can turn trails muddy and make some spots slippery or closed. Expect to pay around $110–$160 per person for a guided group tour or $340–$500 for a private buggy/UTV rental for two. Guided tours are usually the smarter and safer choice for first-timers.

Tip: Pick a morning departure to avoid the worst heat and crowds at the Natural Pool. Skip the cheapest no-name rentals unless you’re an experienced off-roader; basic safety briefings and working radios actually matter out there. Bring a bandana or buff for dust, wear closed shoes, and don’t overestimate your driving skills on loose gravel.
