Should You Visit De Palm Island in Aruba?

De Palm Island is a small private cay off Aruba's coast where you spend the day swimming, snorkeling, and lounging. Expect a lively, resort-style setup with an all-inclusive beach club vibe: buffet lunch, open bar, water slides, sea lion shows, and decent snorkeling right off the dock. The boat ride takes about 30 minutes each way. It's popular with families and groups; the atmosphere is fun but not quiet. If you want a relaxed, low-key beach day, this probably isn't it. The reef is okay but not world-class, and the place gets crowded when multiple boats arrive.

Best time to go is January through April when seas are calmest and rain is rare. Summer and fall can bring rougher water that cancels or shortens trips. Expect to pay around $140–$190 per adult including transport, lunch, drinks, and activities; kids are cheaper. Private boat options push toward the higher end.

Tip: Book the standard group catamaran trip unless you really need privacy. Skip the sea lion photo upgrade; it's overpriced and the animals look bored. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof phone case, and cash for the few extras that aren't included. If you're prone to seasickness, take something beforehand—the channel can get choppy.
