Aruba Sunset Catamaran Cruise: Worth It?

A typical Aruba sunset catamaran cruise lasts about 2–2.5 hours. You board in the late afternoon, sail along the western coast, and watch the sun drop into the Caribbean. Expect calm water, decent appetizers (cheese, fruit, ceviche, maybe some hot bites), and an open bar with rum punch, beer, wine, and soft drinks. The boat usually carries 20–50 people; it can feel social and lively or pleasantly relaxed depending on the crowd. Music is played but rarely overpowering. The actual sunset lasts only about 20 minutes, so most of the trip is golden-hour cruising with views of the coastline, hotels, and occasionally dolphins.

Best time is January through August when the seas are typically calmest and the chance of rain is lowest. December and September–November can still work but bring higher swell and more chance of clouds. Expect to pay around $60–$110 per person; the cheaper options are basic sails with fewer snacks, while $90+ usually gets you better food, a bigger boat, or fewer people. Book one that leaves from Palm Beach or near the high-rise hotels for the shortest transfer.

Tip: Choose a smaller boat (under 40 passengers) if you want space to spread out and actually enjoy the view; the big party-style ones can feel like a floating bar. Skip the add-on photos or “premium” drinks packages— the standard open bar is plenty. Bring a light jacket; it gets breezy once the sun drops.
