Should You Visit Flamingo Island in Aruba?

Flamingo Island is a small private beach attached to Renaissance Island just off Oranjestad. You get a quick boat ride over, powdery white sand, and a flock of very pink flamingos that wander around the mangroves and beach. The water is calm and shallow, perfect for swimming or floating. Expect a half-day vibe: lounge chairs, a restaurant serving decent lunch, and a bar. It’s relaxed but not deserted; cruise passengers and day visitors keep it moderately busy, especially midday. The flamingos are the main draw and they’re genuinely striking up close, though they mostly ignore people.

Best time is January through April when the weather is driest and flamingos are most active. Avoid peak cruise-ship days if you dislike crowds. Expect to pay around $90–$130 per person including the boat transfer and a basic lunch; hotel guests at the attached resort get free access. Add drinks, towels, or cabana rental and it climbs quickly.

Tip: Go early on a weekday if possible; the light is better for photos and the birds are calmer before the afternoon rush. Skip the overpriced cabanas unless you really need shade; regular chairs and umbrellas are usually enough. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and cash for the bar—cards can be slow.
