Egyptian Museum Tour in San Jose

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum holds the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on display in western North America. Expect a solid two to three hours inside a building modeled after the Temple of Amon at Karnak. The collection includes mummies, statues, jewelry, everyday objects, and a small outdoor garden with replica architecture. It's straightforward and informative rather than flashy; some rooms feel a bit dated, but the artifacts are genuine and well-labeled. The museum is compact enough that you won't feel overwhelmed, yet dense enough that you'll want to pace yourself.

Best time to visit is weekday mornings during spring or fall when crowds are thinner and San Jose weather is pleasant. Summers get hot and busier with families; winters can be rainy. Expect to pay around $15–25 per adult, with lower rates for kids, seniors, and students. Parking is usually easy in the surrounding lots for another $5–10.

Tip: spend most of your time in the mummy and sarcophagus galleries on the upper level; they're the real highlight. Skip the gift shop if you're trying to keep costs down—it's overpriced and not particularly unique. Wear comfortable shoes; there's a fair amount of standing and the floors are hard.
