Mala Caves Boat Trip from Nice: Worth It?

The Mala Caves boat trip is a straightforward half-day excursion from Nice that takes you along the coast to a striking set of sea caves and turquoise water only reachable by boat. Expect a 20-30 minute ride on a small speedboat or rigid inflatable, followed by time to swim or snorkel in the caves and nearby coves. The water is exceptionally clear and the rock formations are impressive, but it’s a compact experience – most tours last 2 to 3 hours total. It’s popular because it’s one of the few ways to properly see this stretch of coastline without a car.

Best time is May–June or September–early October when the sea is calm, the crowds are lighter, and the water is warm enough to snorkel comfortably. July and August are busier, hotter, and more expensive. Expect to pay around $60–$95 per person depending on whether it’s a basic shared boat or a smaller group tour with better equipment.
