Expect a loud bar scene with a padded mechanical bull in the middle of the floor. You'll get a quick tutorial from the operator, then it's eight seconds (or usually less) of spinning and bucking while you hang on with one hand. Most people get tossed in under five seconds the first time; the crowd cheers regardless. It's equal parts silly, fun, and a little embarrassing. You can ride multiple times if the line isn't too long, and there's usually a digital scoreboard showing who lasted longest that night.
Best time is fall through spring on Thursday-Saturday nights after 8pm when the energy is high but not completely chaotic. Summer works too but the bars get sweaty. Expect to pay around $25-45 per person including the ride, a drink ticket, and entry; bringing a group drops the per-head cost. Add a few bucks for photos or extra rides.
Tip: pick the slower "beginner" or "practice" mode on your first ride so you actually learn the rhythm instead of flying off immediately. Skip the overpriced souvenir photos unless you nailed a good pose; your phone video from a friend works fine. Wear closed-toe shoes and skip the flip-flops.
