Paragliding in Geneva: What You Need to Know

Expect a 15–25 minute flight with spectacular views of Lake Geneva, the Jura, and the distant Alps. You’ll meet your pilot at a launch site 20–45 minutes from the city, get a quick briefing, clip in, run a few steps (or none if it’s a winch launch), and then you’re airborne. The flight itself is surprisingly calm – more like a gentle hang in the sky than a rollercoaster. Landings are usually soft on grass. Weather dictates everything; pilots only fly when conditions are safe, so be ready for last-minute changes.

The real flying season runs March to October. Best months are May–June and September–early October when the air is stable and thermal activity isn’t too aggressive. Summer can be good but often brings afternoon thunderstorms. Expect to pay around CHF 180–280 for a standard tandem flight including transport from Geneva. Longer scenic flights or those with photos/video push toward the higher end.

Pick a tandem flight that launches from a proper hill with reliable lift rather than the very shortest tourist hops. Skip anything that promises “acrobatic” maneuvers unless you specifically want loops and wingovers – most first-timers regret that choice.
