Paragliding near Mumbai means a full-day trip to the hills around Lonavala or Kamshet, about 2–3 hours away by car. You’ll do a tandem flight with an instructor, usually 15–25 minutes in the air, soaring over green valleys, ridges, and sometimes Buddhist caves. Expect a mix of smooth floating and a few mild thermals; it’s not an adrenaline rollercoaster but a surprisingly peaceful experience with good views. The actual flying site is rural and basic—no fancy facilities—so bring water, sunscreen, and patience for Indian traffic on the way back.
Best time is October to March when the weather is dry and winds are most predictable. Avoid the monsoon (June–September) completely; flights get cancelled often and the hills turn into a muddy mess. Expect to pay around $80–$150 per person for a standard tandem flight including transport from Mumbai, depending on whether you go with a bigger operator or a smaller local setup. Private or longer flights push toward the higher end.
Tip: Choose a morning flight if possible—air is calmer and the light is better. Skip parasailing on Juhu beach; it’s a completely different, much shorter, and less interesting experience. Book a full-day tour that includes pickup so you don’t waste half the day arranging taxis.
