Casablanca Port Cruise Guide

Casablanca is a working Moroccan port city, not a postcard destination. Most cruise passengers do a half-day guided city tour that includes the Hassan II Mosque (the only one non-Muslims can enter), the old Medina, and a drive past the Art Deco downtown. Expect traffic, assertive vendors, and a mix of modern hustle with traditional culture. The mosque visit is the clear highlight—massive, beautifully tiled, and right on the Atlantic. The rest is more about absorbing the real urban Morocco than seeing polished sights. Tours usually last 4–6 hours and include pickup from the cruise terminal.

Best time is April–June or September–October when it’s warm but not scorching. July and August are brutally hot. Expect to pay around $90–$160 per person depending on group size and whether it’s shared or private. Independent taxis are possible but more hassle than they’re worth for a first visit.

Pick the tour that includes the Hassan II Mosque interior; skip the ones that add “shopping stops” at carpet or perfume places. Wear modest clothing for the mosque (shoulders and knees covered) and bring cash in dirhams for small purchases or tips. If your ship only stops for a few hours, this is a solid use of your time. If you’ve been to Marrakech or Fez before, you can comfortably skip it.
