It’s calmer and more intimate than the shared daytime rides, but it’s still a tourist activity. The experience is pleasant and slightly surreal at night when the canals are lit only by streetlamps and the boat’s small lantern. Don’t expect total silence; Venice has constant background sounds of voices, bells, and other boats.
