Expect a loud, fun, slightly chaotic 30-60 minute ride on powerful ATVs tearing up and down red dunes. Tours usually combine pickup from your hotel in Abu Dhabi, a short drive to the desert camp, safety briefing, and riding time. The terrain is soft sand with steep bowls and ridges; it's bumpy, you will eat sand, and the machines are surprisingly quick. Most people ride in small guided groups at sunset or in the morning. It's genuinely thrilling if you like speed and rough terrain, but it can feel short once you factor in all the logistics.
