Seabob Tours in Aruba: Worth It?

A seabob tour gives you a motorized underwater scooter that lets you cover a surprising amount of reef in 45–60 minutes. You’ll glide a few meters above the bottom, spot turtles, rays, and schools of fish, and make short controlled dives down to 10–15 feet. The experience sits between snorkeling and scuba: more range than fins, less gear than tanks. Most trips run from the north or west coast; the boat ride out is short, the water is usually calm, and guides stay close. It’s a fun way to break up a beach day if you’re comfortable in the water and can handle basic snorkel skills.

Best time is January through August when seas are flattest and visibility often exceeds 80 feet. September–December can bring swells and rain that stir up sand, cutting viz and making the ride bouncier. Expect to pay around $130–$190 per person for a standard 60-minute reef tour including hotel pickup, gear, and guide. Private or longer outings push toward the high end.

Pick the morning slot if you want better light and fewer crowds. Skip it if anyone in your group is under 10, gets seasick easily, or isn’t a confident swimmer—the scooter is powerful and the current can surprise beginners. Bring your own snorkel mask if you have a favorite fit; the supplied ones work but aren’t perfect for every face.
