Expect a fast lift ride to the main observation deck at 190m, plus a lower outdoor deck if you're comfortable with heights. It's a straightforward visit: 45-90 minutes is plenty. The views are genuinely impressive on good weather days, but fairly average when it's cloudy or raining. The tower also has a small café and the inevitable gift shop. Skip the paid "Sky Walk" or "Sky Jump" unless you're specifically after an adrenaline hit; the standard admission gives you the best value.

Best time to go is late afternoon in summer (December to March) for softer light and a chance to watch sunset from the top. Expect to pay around NZ$35-55 per adult for general admission depending on whether you book ahead or add extras like an audio guide. Book online in advance to avoid queues, especially during school holidays. One solid tip: go on a weekday if possible – weekends get noticeably busier. If the weather looks iffy, consider swapping it for a harbour cruise instead; the tower isn't worth a full-price visit in heavy cloud.
